VERSION FRANÇAISE

Thetford Mines, March 21, 2022 - The 2022 edition of the Desjardins Dragons took place on March 2. Students from the region's four high schools presented projects to a panel of local Dragons. Composed of four entrepreneurs from the region and a Desjardins representative, the Dragons watched the presentation of 11 projects.

Once again this year, the teams had to use their ingenuity to complete their projects. All stages of the project were rushed. The respect of sanitary rules complicated the production, while the closing of certain businesses caused the cancellation of certain events. Finally, the sales were more difficult to make in the context that we know but, despite everything, it was a great edition.

Here are the amounts that were awarded for each team:

• CYMEX : $ 250

• GEE-EVENTS : $250 plus $250 for the completion of an activity by the end of the school year.

• LES COCOS LOULOUS : $250 plus $25 for each team member to recognize agility demonstrated during the project.

• PANIER DES APPALACHES : $ 250

• ÉCO-CARTE : $ 250

• POUSSES VERTES : $ 250 plus $100 per teammate to reward team resilience and quality marketing.

• LES GENTLEMEN : $250 plus an amount of $250 divided according to the percentages established in the team, to reward the quality of the project as a whole.

• RÉACTION EN CHAINE : $750

• LES DOUCEURS DES BÊTES : $250 plus $50 per team member to recognize their personal achievement.

• LES DIEUX DE L'HYGIÈNE : $ 150

• HESTIA : $ 250 plus the Dragons' Choice Award for an additional $500. This team earned this award by offering a niche product that fills a very important need at this time, and by aligning the marketing and mission of the company in a way that is seamless and in keeping with the spirit of the product.

Dragon's Choice Award and Gala Zénith
Thanks to a collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thetford Mines (CCITM), a team will be presented at the Zenith Gala on October 21st, to receive the "Coup de cœur Desjardins" award. This year, the Eco Carte team impressed the Dragons by proposing a handmade card that could be buried to bloom during the summer. Annual flower seeds are found inside the paper made by the team. An original, personalized product that meets ecological and recycling values. In addition to participating in the Gala Zénith, the team will receive a $750 scholarship. An additional $250 could be awarded if the team members choose to produce a new product this year.

The Caisses Desjardins of the region have been partners since the very first edition of this initiative. Their financial assistance is reserved for the realization of the projects presented by our youth. In addition, we note the contribution of the Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi de Frontenac which, thanks to the financial participation of the Secrétariat à la Jeunesse, ensures the follow-up of the projects throughout the year in the schools.

The organizing committee, composed of the Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford and the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Frontenac, would like to thank all those who participated, collaborated and made this activity possible, namely:

• Guidance counsellors, teachers and school staff members accompanying the students in their projects;

• Financial partners: Caisse Desjardins de la région de Thetford, Caisse Desjardins du Carrefour des Lacs;

• The Dragons: Marianne Baril, co-owner of Pépinière Ancestrale, Jennifer Poiré, president of Groupe Castech Plessitech inc, Frédéric Paré, president of E'Mind Tek inc, Serge Dubois, co-founder and director of supplies, Appalaches Nature inc, and Christian Poulin, commercial market account manager, Desjardins Entreprises.
